This morning, I read a very warm word: "The land you are crossing to possess is a land of hills and valleys, watered by rain."
The reason I thought of reading this passage is because of the following short sentence: "From the beginning of the year to the end of the year." At this moment, we are standing at the beginning of the year, and we are full of longing for the new year, expecting that we will have a better harvest.
So, will this year be better? Objectively speaking, he has not promised that the sky will always be blue, the road of life will always be filled with flowers, nor has he promised that it will always be sunny and rainless, happy and painless, and safe and secure.
And this passage best explains the problem. If the new year is an unclaimed land, then it is first of all a land of "hills and valleys", and we must be fully prepared for this.
What does it mean to have hills and valleys? The high mountains in life are the moments when we move towards success. When the dreams in our hearts are realized, we may have honors, praise, flowers, applause... and enjoy the joy of victory.
The low point in life is the darkest, heaviest and most difficult moment in our hearts. Stumbling in the low point, we can't see any light at all. Even if we shed all our tears, it will be useless.
After knowing the mountains and valleys, it is almost certain that we are willing to stand on the top of the mountain to enjoy the beautiful scenery, but we are unwilling to experience endless pain in the valley.
However, don't forget that the new year must be a place with mountains and valleys for us, and no one can stay out of it. This year, we will inevitably experience laughter and tears, joy and sorrow, sweetness and pain, health and illness... I wonder if you are ready at this moment?
Please don't be timid, and don't hesitate. There is another word next, called "rain-nourished" place.
Maybe we think, what's special about rain-nourished? And the most special thing is just here. For that ancient nation, rain-nourished will become their very special experience.
It turns out that when they lived in the land of sojourn, their ancestors had lived like this: "You sow seeds there and water them with your feet, as you would water a vegetable garden."
Because the climate in that land was dry and there was little rainfall, they had to rely on the water of the Nile River to irrigate the fields. So they had to serve as slaves to the people in that land and irrigate the fields with water wheels, which was extremely hard.
But the climate of the promised land they were about to enter was completely different. There was often spring rain, which moistened the vast land and made the land grow grains to meet their needs. From this perspective, they only needed to look up to the sky and did not need to work hard to water the fields.
Stepping into the new year, it is difficult for us to predict what lessons we will learn, what sufferings we will experience, and what challenges we will face this year.
But we believe that although this year has "mountains and valleys", it also has "rain" - rain in drought, strength in fatigue, laughter in tears, and comfort in sorrow.
And this rain is not what we have worked hard for, but it falls from the sky and is obtained for free. We don't need to pursue it hard, the beautiful blessing has been waiting for us ahead, I firmly believe in it and am full of gratitude.
Looking back on the past year, it is a year of gratitude. Although we have experienced various different environments, we have survived safely without any danger.
Counting the past year, it is a year of harvest. Although we have lost a lot, what we have gained is far more than what we have lost. We lost our health, but we got healing, lost our stable jobs, but we experienced the supply at any time.
Meditating on the past year, it is a year of joy. Although we sow in tears, we can reap with joy, our weeping turns into dancing, our sackcloth is taken off and we are covered with joy, and even in adversity, we can still sing loudly.
Meditating on the past year, it is a year of peace. There is peace in both big and small things, we have courage in the valley, we see the road in the wilderness, and we get sweet springs in the desert.
In a word, this year is bitter but sweet, sad but joyful, windy but sunny, and lost but rewarding!
When the new year is before us, what reason do we have to be complacent, content with the status quo, timid, and hesitant?
In the new year, let us join hands and walk the road together. Don't be nostalgic for the scenery on the roadside, don't be greedy for the prosperity of the world, as long as you focus on it and look up, you will not deviate from the direction of progress, nor will you lose the strength in your heart.
In the past years, I am grateful for your company; in the future years, let us go forward together through wind and rain!
