"Bridge of Hope" cross-border medical aid action launched

On the morning of October 20, the "Bridge of Hope" cross-border medical charity project initiated by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies held a launching ceremony at the United Nations Plaza in Nairobi, Kenya. Medical teams from 22 countries including Germany, Japan, and Brazil, together with Natasha Otieno, the East African Community Commissioner for Health Affairs, unveiled a memorial sculpture with the words "Life Without Boundaries" in Swahili, marking the official launch of this five-year aid plan covering eight sub-Saharan countries.

In an open-air venue decorated with acacia trees, the keys to the first batch of 30 mobile medical vehicles equipped with remote diagnosis and treatment systems were handed over to the Ugandan Minister of Health to the sound of traditional Tanzanian Ngoma drums. Amina Kabongo, a midwife from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, shared: "In a pilot project last year, we used satellite medical kits to reduce maternal mortality in remote villages by 40%." The "Life Bracelet" claiming area specially set up on site caused a wave of enthusiasm. The Petersen couple, engineers from Norway, pointed to the electronic map and said: "The maternal and child care station in Zambia that we funded will light up our exclusive love logo within three months."

In the "Future Physicians of Africa" training cabin on the west side of the main stage, Eric, a medical student from Rwanda, was practicing cesarean section surgery on a virtual reality device. Lucas Dupont, the project's technical director and French medical professor, introduced: "These training data will be synchronized to the cloud teaching system in Geneva, and will be guided in real time by the world's top obstetric experts." In the "Run for Life" charity marathon held simultaneously outside the venue, Kenyan long-distance runner Eliud Kipchoge led 300 runners to complete the special stage. His personal foundation promised to donate $200 per kilometer to purchase neonatal incubators.

According to the real-time updated digital charity dashboard, as of 18:00 that day, the donations raised through NFT art auctions and traditional channels had reached 3.8 million US dollars. Marta Ferreira, the EU's special envoy to the African Union, announced that the first phase of funds will give priority to the construction of 12 solar medical stations in the Lake Malawi region and provide advanced training for 200 grassroots health workers in South Sudan. After nightfall, the "Tree of Life" laser projection created by South African artists illuminated the night sky of the square, and the Namibian Children's Choir sang "Mother Earth" in Khoisan language, which made many participants cry.

It is worth noting that the organizers have specially enabled the blockchain traceability platform, and donors can view the real-life images of the assisted areas by scanning the QR code. It is reported that the second "Bridge of Hope" action has been confirmed to be held in Lima, Peru, and the Andes Maternal and Child Health Project has now opened a global volunteer registration channel.
